Tolt Congregational United Church of Christ Holds 4th of July Pancake Breakfast

Every year, Tolt Congregational United Church of Christ in Carnation holds its 4th of July Pancake Breakfast, with proceeds benefiting the church’s Good Neighbor Fund (GNF). It is a huge part of the Carnation 4th of July festivities – and a big breakfast tradition for many Valley families.

Dating back to the mid-80s, this fundraiser is the primary source of revenue for the Tolt Good Neighbor Fund (TGNF). This breakfast has raised nearly $80,000 over 34 years and serves between 400 and 600 breakfasts annually! Each year, local businesses support the breakfast with over $1000 in cash, gift cards, and in-kind donations.

Unfortunately, like last year the breakfast must change due to social distancing recommendations.  They are planning to serve limited take-out breakfasts on the fourth but recognize that this alone will not be enough to meet community needs. With this in mind, they ask for help to replenish the Good Neighbor Fund to ensure that they can help those in need in the community.

The Virtual Pancake Breakfast will happen on their Facebook page on Saturday, July 4th, at 9 AM. Here you can share your best pictures and memories of past years or the stack of pancakes you eat at home! To honor the holiday, they will be keeping that page open through July 4.

Or you can join them from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM for pancakes, eggs, and sausage, along with coffee and a choice of orange or tomato juice.

Their famous homemade (and locally picked) strawberry sauce is always on hand for that special touch.  Take out, or enjoy a picnic on their lawn, across the street from the parade start.  The price for the benefit breakfast this year is $7.00.

Tolt UCC’s Good Neighbor Fund provides community members assistance with rent, bills, groceries and other essential items. Listed in the 211 helpline, this fund is well known in the Snoqualmie Valley towns of Duvall, Carnation, Fall City, North Bend and Snoqualmie as the place where a person can receive help for gas, groceries, utilities and other small emergency needs.

Once a request is made through the church office, a TGNF helper responds, arranges to meet in person, and helps as needed with small grants. They only require ID, verification (power bill, etc.) and can offer this essential help every six months as needs arise.

So far, the church has raised $300 for the Good Neighbor Fund. The goal is to earn $5,000 for the fund. So head over to the GoFundMe page and help them out.

Good Luck, Tolt UCC!
