Three New Valley Businesses Open This Week – a Deli, a Spa and a Childcare Center

The recession took its toll on local businesses, especially on Snoqualmie Ridge where many retail area store fronts sit empty.  You get more accustomed to seeing businesses close than new ones open.  This week seemed to buck that trend in the valley.

Anytime I see new businesses going in, I get hopeful; hopeful that things are turning around; that residents will find new businesses they love and help those businesses be successful.  This past week left me extra hopeful as I noticed three new store fronts around the valley.

Hooper’s Deli, North Bend

Ryan and Bambi Hooper opened their deli in the old L Taco spot in North Bend.  “No Subs!” Ryan told me.  Bambi says Hooper’s Deli is “bringing a bit of old school San Francisco Deli to North Bend.”

The deli opened last week right before North Bend’s annual block party.  Things seem to be going great according to their Facebook page.  Local police officers and firemen are becoming regulars.  Hooper’s Deli will start delivering soon, too.

Ruby’s Beauty and Spa, Snoqualmie

A new beauty services spa opened yesterday on Snoqualmie Ridge – next to SnoValley Coffee.  The salon offers massages, facials, waxing and threading.  Admittedly, I had no idea what threading was.  The extent of my salon visits are pedicures and quarterly haircuts.  Enter the Google machine!

“Threading hair is an ancient method commonly practiced in Eastern countries, like Egypt and India, but is becoming very popular here in the West. Threading removes the entire hair follicle, lasting up to 6 weeks. A cotton thread is pulled along unwanted hair in a twisting motion, to trap hair in a mini lasso, and lifts hair right out of the follicle.”

Life Long Early Learning Center, Snoqulamie

Have a population where 35% of it are kids under 18 and there’s a definitely child care need. Life Long Early Learning Center opened across the street from the Snoqulamie Fire Station – on Better Way next door to Subway.

  • The new daycare Life Long Early Learning Center, is not a completely new business. This child care business has changed names and moved. It was called Just 4 Kids Early Learning Center and was located in an old church, behind Got Rice.

My kids have been going there since they have turned 1. Our oldest is going to be starting kindergarten and leaving the daycare in September. We have been very happy with how se has grown up in their care.
