January 11th marked the official groundbreaking ceremony celebrating North Bend’s new Tennant Trailhead Park construction.
Si View Metro Parks hosted a small gathering at the site with project partners. The City of North Bend, King County Parks, and Si View Metro Parks are excited about all the benefits this new park will provide for the community.
Tennant Trailhead Park is a 32-acre parcel on Rattlesnake Mountain that will offer trails for mountain biking and hiking as well as a picnic area and viewpoints.
One of the key elements of this park is a trail system of family-focused mountain biking trails that are easy and short enough for absolute beginners yet provide progression through a future connection to the Raging River trail system for a variety of riding experiences.
These beginner trails will be a welcome addition to the local trail inventory and best of all, reachable on a bike from many of our local neighborhoods.
Phase I construction includes two miles of new trails within the park. Construction of trailhead facilities and parking areas are scheduled to start later this year.
Together with partners, additional grant funding has been secured from King County Parks Levy Open Space Grant Program and the WWRP Trails Grant Program for a later phase connecting Tennant Trailhead to the Raging River trail system. The tentative timeline for the construction of this phase is 2024-2026.
