SWAT Team Surrounds Wilderness Rim Home After Report Resident Fired off Round

Wilderness Rim residents reported heavy police activity in the area, Saturday afternoon, July 11, 2015, reportedly responding to a domestic violence call.

King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies, along with SWAT team members and a bomb robot, surrounded a home in the 17600 block of 429th Ave SE in the Wilderness Rim area of North Bend after a 911 call reported that a shot had been fired, according to KCSO Sergeant Stan Seo.

Sgt. Seo said the incident began around 1PM when a 26-year old male who was reportedly high got into an argument with family members and fired off a round.

Seo said it wasn’t specifically known what was fired, possibly a handgun, replica or pellet gun, but the 911 call reported something was fired and the King County Sheriff’s Office responded per their protocol for this type of situation.

Seo said family members safely evacuated the home, that it was not hostage situation, but initially it was unclear if the suspect was still inside the home.

The home was later searched and it was determined he was not there. A helicopter was also utilized to search for the man, but he was not located.

As of 6:45PM, Sgt. Seo said the Wilderness Rim area was being opened up and the KCSO was still “actively searching for the suspect.”
