Eastside Fire & Rescue’s annual outdoor burning moratorium took effect June 15 and will remain in place through September as local and regional agencies prepare for wildfire season.
Additional burn restrictions may also be implemented by the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency or King County Fire Marshal’s Office if conditions warrant.
Facts about the seasonal burning moratorium:
- Recreational campfires are not included, where otherwise permitted. Outdoor cooking or recreational burning (campfires) requires a no-fee burn permit that can be obtained online at www.eastsidefire-rescue.org
- Puget Sound Clean Air Agency may impose a countywide burn ban for air-quality conditions. Any fire using wood is subject to these burn bans
- King County Fire Marshal’s Office may impose a burn ban due to extreme fire danger, and restrictions may be extended
- Brush fires significantly increase during the summer months and can grow quickly
