Steam Train Returns to the Valley after Thomas the Tank Engine Finishes Popular Snoqualmie Tour Stop

The trains departing the historic Snoqualmie Depot sound different this summer…. because steam has returned to the Upper Snoqualmie Valley… the steam train to be more exact.

Travel back in time to experience firsthand what train travel was like in the late Victorian/early Edwardian period in the Pacific Northwest at the Northwest Railway Museum this summer.

The steam train will be running every weekend from July 25th through September 7th, including Friday August 14th and Monday September 7th.

For the next two weekends, July 10th-12th & July 17th-19th, Thomas the Tank Engine will be visiting Snoqualmie. The steam train kicks into high gear once Thomas departs for the next stop on his always popular summer tour. (Oh, and some Thomas tickets are still available –  for Friday, July 17th.)

Just as those early steam trains did in the 1890s, the Railway Museum steam train rides include a trip to view Snoqualmie Falls – from opposite the usual viewing side… and it’s an amazing view.

Roundtrip Fares are: $20/ Adult (13-61); $18/Senior (62+) and $12/Child (2-12), Under age 2 are free!  Steam train excursions which include the Museum’s premier tour package of the Train Shed exhibit building are available on Saturdays at 12:30PM.

Visitors to the museum experience the excitement of a working railroad while learning about the important role railroads played in shaping the character of the Pacific Northwest.

The Snoqualmie Depot, exhibits and Depot Bookstore are open to the public 10AM to 5PM daily. For more information: www.trainmuseum.org.

  • It is very sad that the price of the ride has gotten so expensive.. many of us seniors on very limited incomes cannot afford this expenditure.. Twenty dollars is a very high price for a short train ride.. that is for sure.. was a great time for ten bucks a few years ago.. sorry ..
