Statewide face covering order now in effect; free masks available in North Bend, Snoqualmie

Friday was the day: June 26th. The day the state’s face covering public health order officially goes into effect, requiring they be worn (with some exceptions) by those over 5-years old in indoor public spaces and outdoors when physical distance isn’t possible.

See our earlier story on the state’s face mask order.

Face covering do not need to be worn under certain circumstances, including communicating with a person who is deaf or hard of hearing; while outdoors in public areas, provided that a distance of six feet is maintained from people who are not members of their household; and while eating or drinking at a restaurant.

There are also specific exemptions for those who may be adversely impacted by wearing a facial covering, including those with certain medical conditions and children under the age of two.

The Snoqualmie Police Department said it will continue to educate and advise the public about the importance of face coverings and the governor’s mandate.

The cities of North Bend and Snoqualmie are proving masks to residents who may still need them.
