Social Media Violence Threat Closes Issaquah's Skyline High School

If you a student at Mount Si High School who uses social media, they may have seen a post circulating regarding threats of violence against students at Skyline High School in the neighboring Issaquah School District.

The threat circulated social media yesterday and was then reported to the King County Sheriff’s Office – and eventually lead to Issaquah School District officials closing Skyline High School today, September 20th.

According to Komo News, the King County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an online post that claimed to be from a Skyline student.  The student threatened to bring his father’s gun to school and “open fire on the people in the commons in the morning until I am either taken down by our school’s police officer, or until I run out of mags.”  The online posting also contained a photo of a gun.

The Issaquah School District says: “Skyline High is closed out of an abundance of caution after police received report of a threat against students. All students and staff should not come to campus.”  The District also said it would release more information as soon as it is available.  In an email to parents last night district officials also said staff and student safety is the district’s top concern.

King County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the threat to find out if it is legitimate, according to Sergeant Cindi West.
