The City of Snoqualmie has partnered with Waste Management for many years. The previous contract ran from 2013 to 2023 and was extended for two years before a new long-term agreement was signed in June 2025.
According to the city, rates are adjusted at the start of new contracts to reflect current market conditions, including inflation and other contractual provisions. The city says these adjustments are a standard part of long-term service agreements intended to help maintain stable service and avoid larger rate increases in the future.
Snoqualmie officials also note that local rates remain lower than those in many surrounding communities.
New features included in the contract include:
• Expanded cart and container size options
• Technology upgrades, including GPS tracking and onboard cameras
• Unlimited recycling services for multifamily and commercial customers
Residents looking to reduce their bills may qualify for discounts available to low-income households and people with disabilities. Customers who enroll in paperless billing and payment receive a $6 annual credit. Residents can also save up to 20% by downsizing from a standard 35-gallon cart to a 20-gallon cart.
Waste Management presented its annual report during the May 11 City Council meeting.
