Snoqualmie Valley Zumba Gets Kids Moving And Fundraises For Breast Cancer

Kelly Saunders has been teaching Zumba in the Snoqualmie Valley for about a year and a half now.  She has steadily gained quite a following.

Kelly began teaching the popular Latin dance-inspired exercise class at Ridge Fitness in spring 2010.  It quickly became so popular that it replaced her regular cardio fitness class.  She then added two weekly classes at the TPC Snoqualmie Ridge Golf Course.  Then summer arrived and her Zumba class moved outdoors to the TPC pool for Water Zumba.

With a new school year in full swing, Kelly is now bringing Zumba to the kids.  Students at Cascade View and North Bend Elementary Schools can take Zumba as a PTA sponsored after school activity.  Classes kicked off last week.  It’s easy to see why the kids love it.  It’s exercise disguised as fun dance – complete with a sparkling, jingling coin skirts.  My own daughter’s reaction after her first Zumba class?  “Beyonce, Shakira, Glee and Taylor Swift.  It was awesome!”  It’s not too late for your child to start Zumba.  Just contact  the CVES or NBE main office.

Kelly is also taking her love of Zumba to a new level this year.  On Sunday, October 23rd, Kelly and 4 other Zumba instructors will host a breast cancer fundraiser supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure.   The Party in Pink Zumbathon runs from 2PM – 4PM at Cascade View Elementary School, 34816 SE Ridge St, in Snoqualmie.  Donations of $15 or more are accepted at the door, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Komen Foundation.  Great local prizes will be raffled off during the event.  Items include an Ana’s Family Mexican Restaurant gift card, Clarisonic gift package, a still to be determined gift from Ridge Fitness and many others.

To date over $185,000 has been raised by Zumba Party in Pink attendees.  Kelly is hoping to up this total when Snoqulmie Valley hosts its first Party in Pink Zumbathon.
