Snoqualmie Valley Transportation Hopes to Restore Restricted Routes to Regular Service Soon

[Guest Post by Snoqualmie Valley Transportation, Carol Ladwig]

The Valley-local bus service, Snoqualmie Valley Transportation, has immediate openings for six bus drivers.

Interested applicants with a valid driver’s license are encouraged to apply immediately, as unexpected losses of drivers have resulted in temporary service changes—the cancellation of the Duvall Monroe Shuttle route and a merging of the Downtown and Ridge Loop routes.

“We’ve been so lucky to get such great people in the past and hope that some great drivers are in our future,” said SVT Executive Director Amy Biggs. “It’s an amazing thing to be able to have a job where you go home at the end of each day and can honestly say, ‘Today I made a difference.'”

She said that SVT dispatchers have been driving routes in the short term, and some retired drivers have been recruited to come back. Also, the Duvall-Monroe Shuttle route has been temporarily canceled, and the Downtown and Ridge Loop routes have been combined. To qualify, applicants must hold a regular Washington driver’s license with a clean driving record for the past five years and must be able to show proof of vaccination. No special license is required because the buses are small.

Paid training is provided, and the starting rate is $16.26 per hour with regular increases. Applicants must also pass a federal drug test – including marijuana use — and have no arrests on their records.

The paid training process takes several weeks so that applications will be processed immediately. All shifts are Monday through Friday, 32+ hours per week.

After 60 days of employment, drivers qualify for $950 a month’s worth of company-paid medical and dental benefits, as well.

The biggest benefit of the job, though, is the impact on other people, say the drivers. Many have said this has been their best job, in part because they can live and work in the Valley, but also because of the many ways they help others, just by helping them get around.

To apply, complete the form at https://svtbus.org/hiring-form-job-application/ and drop it off at the office, 1308 Boalch Ave. N.W., North Bend, or send it by email to feedback@svtbus.org. You can also mail it to Snoqualmie Valley Transportation, P.O. Box 805, North Bend, WA, 98045.
