Snoqualmie Valley ‘Tour de Peaks’ Bike Ride on New Day, to Finish at North Bend Block Party, July 19th

The 26th Annual Snoqualmie Valley Tour De Peaks Bike Ride supports a new cause and happens on a new date this year – Saturday, tourdepeaksJuly 19th.

The benefactor of the 2014 race is the Snoqualmie Valley Hospital Foundation’s Digital Mammography Capital Campaign. Essentially the effort will help raise money to bring mammography technology to the Snoqualmie Valley, helping the region detect and prevent breast cancer.

“We are really excited to partner with the Tour De Peaks Bike Ride this year and thank The Chamber of Commerce for their help raising money for our Digital Mammography Capital Campaign. It’s a great way to raise awareness around breast health in the Snoqualmie Valley” said Eric Kaltenbacher, Executive Director of the Snoqualmie Valley Hospital Foundation.

The ride will also fall on a new date this year so that it takes place on a Saturday and finishes in the same location as the popular North Bend Block Party, which draws hundreds to the downtown core each year.

The Block Party runs from 12PM- 11PM on July 19th in the heart of downtown North Bend on North Bend Way between Bendigo Blvd and Ballarat Ave. The event is always a fun one, with lots of live music, food, vendors and fun.The headlining bands for the 2014 Block Party are Spike and the Impalors and  Heart by Heart.

Nate Perea, CEO of the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber, explained part of the reason for holding the Tour de Peaks bike ride on a Saturday versus its normal Sunday was so the riders could finish near the North Bend Block Party and hopefully “stick around for a while and have some fun.”

Tour de Peaks features three different Snoqualmie Valley bike rides:

  • 100 mile Century – entire Valley, including Duvall
  • 50 mile Half Century – country roads, including Carnation
  • 25 mile Intermediate – close up view of Mt Si

For more information and/or to register for one of the rides visit www.tourdepeaks.org

Drivers should expect road closures and extra traffic near downtown North Bend for the events. The weather is predicted to cool off a bit – into the mid 70’s.
