Snow in some Snoqualmie Valley areas (appears mainly in North Bend) has caused a delay to the start of schools after a two week winter break.
Two Hour Late Start
Early Monday morning the Snoqualmie Valley School District announced its schools will open two hours late on January 4th, 2016, due to inclement weather and road conditions.
There is no A.M. Preschool, no Encompass, no AM Kindergarten, or out-of-district transportation. There is also limited bus transportation to Area “A” in North Bend and Area “B” in Snoqualmie. (See altered bus pick up locations below.)
According to a few social media reports, over four inches of snow had fallen in the Wilderness Rim area by 7:30AM. One resident on Mt. Si Road reported 5-6 inches. The snow, though, turned to rain near the I-90/SR 18 interchange.
Around 4:30AM a semi had slipped at the westbound on-ramp to I-90 from SR 18, and partially blocked the ramp until around 7AM. It caused a long back up along Snoqualmie Parkway until it was cleared.
SVSD bus routes to the affected areas are altered due to road conditions and pick ups many be reduced and consolidated to different spots as indicated below.
AREA “ A “ NORTH BEND
- Cedar Falls Road – No side roads serviced past River Bend and no service past Wilderness Rim. If this road closes – there will be no bus transportation on Cedar Falls Road.
- Wilderness Rim – Main road only, no side street service. Not around lake.
- 468th Ave. SE & Edgewick Road – All side roads meet at Edgewick Road. Route goes to 464th Way SE. and turns around at the end.
- Middle Fork Road – Bus will turn around at Twin Falls Middle School
- Mt Si Road – Pick up main road to River Point.
- Uplands – Pick up at 415th
AREA “ B “ SNOQUALMIE
- 96TH ST.: Echo Lake – meet at entrance to 96th.
- SNOQUALMIE RIDGE:
- Pick up on Snoqualmie Parkway
- Pick up on Douglas Ave. SE to SE Carmichael
- Pick up on SE Carmichael to SE Sorenson
- Pick up on SE Ridge St. to Fairway Ave., to Muir St. and Douglas Ave. SE.
- Deer Park: Pick up at Swensen Ave. and Leitz SE
- Aster Creek & Eagle Point: Pick up at Jacobia& Hancock streets
- No side roads will be serviced.
- Highland Drive & Tokul Road – Pick up at the Main Line & 396th Drive SE. Pick up at 396th Dr. and SE 53rd St. No travel to SE 47th St. & Tokul Road.
