Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation's March 22nd Fundraiser Aims To Be Most Successful To Date

On Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the TPC Snoqualmie Ridge more than 250 community and business leaders will convene for Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation’s Small Hands to Big Plans Luncheon.  It is the foundation’s biggest fundraising event of the year.  This year’s event aims to raise over $80,000 for kids in the Snoqualmie Valley School District.

Sandi Everlove of Washington STEM will deliver the keynote address, sharing why STEM is an education nonnegotiable in Washington state.  “In the 21st century, quality STEM education is a passport to opportunity that all kids need and deserve,” says Sandi Everlove, Chief Learning Officer and Interim CEO of Washington STEM, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education across the state. “This is especially true in Washington State, which has a rich STEM-economy, ranking first in the nation in the concentration of STEM jobs.”

A passionate advocate for children, Everlove brings on the ground experiences to her work in STEM education.  She is an award-winning high school chemistry teacher with Seattle Public Schools and received the Washington State Golden Apple Award in 1998.

In addition, the Foundation will present the 2011-2012 Educator of the Year Awards and highlight programs and initiatives funded through donor and community support.

This year’s SVSD Educators of the Year recipients are:

  • Tina Longwell, secretary at Opstad Elementary School
  • Elizabeth Cronin, 4th grade teacher at Cascade View Elementary School
  • Dave Bettine, 8th grade math teacher at Twin Falls Middle School
  • Jennifer Foster, Spanish teacher at Mount Si High School

Snoqualmie Valley School Foundation officers anticipate this year’s luncheon will be even more successful than last year.  With your tax deductible donations, the Foundation will be able to provide funding for classroom grants, district initiatives and educational programs to ensure that local students have the skills required to become successful.   This year’s luncheon happens Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the TPC Snoqualmie Ridge.  Doors open at 11:00AM.  The program runs from 11:30AM to 1:00PM.  To reserve your luncheon seat RSVP at www.SVSFoundation.org.  Seating is limited.  Attendees are advised to make reservations early.
