Snoqualmie Valley offers great ‘Shop Local’ options – Birches, Corners, Selah and more!

Are you still running around shopping for the holidays? Have your computer open for online shopping and ready to pay for 2-day or overnight shipping?

There are plenty of local options to help you check names off your holiday list – small,  locally owned shopping options that will keep you out of crowded malls, help you avoid sitting in traffic, and alleviate the worry over US Postal Service delivery dates.

[Personal note: I’ve shopped at all of these local establishments and highly recommend them all.  They are filled with great merchandise and are run by dedicated, local owners.]

Shop Local – at Shops your neighbors Own

The upper Snoqualmie Valley is home to some wonderful, unique shopping options. Downtown North Bend offers Birches Habitat, which has been on the corner of Bendigo Blvd and North Bend Way for almost a decade.  The store features home decor, jewelry, clothing, holiday decorations and more.

Selah Gifts is just a block away on  North Bend Way, and has also been around for the past decade. Described as an “urban boutique in a rural setting offering everything you didn’t know you need,” the store offers a lot of great gifts “to enlighten, enliven and overall enhance your day.”

If you stroll over to downtown Snoqualmie you can stop by Corners Gift Shop at the intersection of King Street and Railroad Ave. The store that opened just a year ago features kitchen items, holiday and home decor, local art, jewelry, hats, purses, scarfs, handmade Seahawks attire, baby gifts and more.

Stroll down Railroad Ave and you can stop by Wild Hare Vintage, a popular antique/vintage store that can have you wandering the corners of space looking for treasures and recalling memories of your grandparent’s home. The owners have a great eye for vintage items and have developed a lot of fans since opening the store. In fact they had to move to a bigger space last year in order to keep up with demand.

Just a few doors down is the Art Gallery of SnoValley with a collection pieces from local Valley artists, as well as pieces inspired by local Valley scenery. The artist collection opened earlier this year and welcome the community to stop in – you’ll probably even catch an artist at work inside the store.

On Railroad there’s also Down to Earth – which is more than a flower shop. It has lots of great gift items and a large card selection, too. Behind Down to Earth on Falls Ave is Carmichael’s Hardware Store – almost a local legend with all of its aisles filled with everything a house might need – and not to mention gifts and knickknacks, too.

And if gift items aren’t the perfect thing for those on your list – don’t forget all the great local restaurants and coffee shops around the Valley. They all offer gift cards.

Now – I am off to shop local!
