Snoqualmie hires former Sammamish city manager as interim city administrator

Roughly six weeks after longtime Snoqualmie City Administrator Bob Larson announced he was leaving to become Gig Harbor’s new city administrator, Snoqualmie Mayor Matt Larson has hired Rick Rudometkin to be the city’s interim administrator pending council approval.

Most recently Rudometkin was the Sammamish City Manager. He was hired in spring of 2019 and left Sammamish this past November when the two parties entered into a separation agreement. Sammamish has gone through several city managers over the past three years.

Prior to his tenure in Sammamish, Rudometkin was the Eddy County (pop. 58,000) Administrator in Carlsbad, New Mexico for approximately six years. Before that he was Eddy County Director of Public Works, Streets Division Manager in Colorado Springs and served in several director positions for Modoc County in Alturas, CA.

Rudometkin officially began work in Snoqualmie on Monday, January 6th. His hiring does require city council approval. The council is expected to vote on his contract at its January 13th meeting.

Mayor Larson commented, “I am excited to work with Rick. He comes with a great depth and breadth of city experience that will serve our community well.”

The city is expected to start a formal search and hiring process for a permanent city administrator in February or March.
