‘Sun-Shiny’ Good News: Snoqualmie earns Municipal Excellence Award

Well, it looks like its solarization efforts last year – and all those new solar panels installed atop local homes – earned the City of Snoqualmie some recognition.

The City of Snoqualmie announced it will be honored with a Municipal Excellence Award from the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) at their Annual Conference in Everett.

The City of Snoqualmie won the Making a Difference in your Environment category for the successful Solarize Snoqualmie program, where it partnered with nonprofit Northwest SEED to conduct a group purchase or “bulk buy” solar panel program.

The program secured 47 solar panel installations in Snoqualmie and in neighboring North Bend.

Out of more than 50 entries, Snoqualmie’s entry was one of five projects selected to receive a Municipal Excellence Award. The awards are presented to cities that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in innovative city projects.

“The Municipal Excellence Awards highlight the innovation coming out of 281 strong cities across the state of Washington,” said AWC CEO Peter B. King.
