Snoqualmie City News: Halloween Safety, Lake Alice Road Update, "Fall Back" Reminder

Some important reminders from Snoqualmie city officials this week:

Fire Fighters Helping Keep Trick-or-Treaters Safe

Halloween in Snoqualmie is a true spectacle with hundreds of children racing around, gathering goodies and getting an occasional scare. But many of us get a scare from having so many little ones out after dark in neighborhoods beyond their usual play zones.

To bring attention to Halloween safety, Snoqualmie fire fighters will be visiting with kids in local neighborhoods and handing out hundreds of safety strobe balls. These balls can be carried in hand and will help drivers spot young princesses, super heroes, and ghouls.

Halloween presents an excellent opportunity to teach kids about safety. Keep little ones close. Be a good example by crossing streets only at crosswalks, looking both ways and not running. Help bigger kids be safe by setting parameters such as wearing manageable costumes they can easily walk in, map out routes early and checking in or coming home at a set time.

Access Road to Lake Alice Closed

Those in the Heights neighborhood of Snoqualmie Ridge will be happy to know that the first phase of repairs to Lake Alice Road have been completed and the access road to Lake Alice from SE Sorenson Street has closed – just in time for the high pedestrian traffic of Halloween.

Change Your Clocks. Change Your Batteries
On Sunday, November 4 at 2:00AM, Daylight Saving Time ends and we “fall back” one hour. The City of Snoqualmie Fire Department urges you to make a habit of changing the batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors at the same time you reset your clocks. These devices are the most important means of preventing house and apartment fire fatalities and carbon monoxide poisoning.

In addition to new batteries, fire detectors should be tested each month and replaced every ten years. The minutes required to maintain these devices can mean the difference between life and death. If you have questions, please call the Snoqualmie Fire Department at 425-888-1551.
