Snoqualmie Casino gives its team a real scare

If 2020 isn’t scary enough on its own, the Entertainment Department at Snoqualmie Casino is surprising team members with a Halloween Selfie Experience designed just for them.

In a typical year, the Entertainment Department would be spending the days leading up to Halloween transforming the Snoqualmie Casino Ballroom and surrounding space into a spooky atmosphere ready to usher in hundreds of ghouls and goblins from all over the Seattle metro. This is not a typical year.

Understanding that not only safety, but morale, is crucial during this time, the Executive Team at Snoqualmie Casino is constantly looking for new ways to make the workforce of 1100 feel positive and valued during an extraordinarily stressful season for everyone.

It is out of this mission that the Halloween Selfie Experience was born. Snoqualmie Tribe member and Snoqualmie Casino Entertainment Manager Troy Wyatt, known for his creative and big ideas, knew that if done well, a haunted attraction would be a fun experience for employees. “This year has been tough for everyone. Our Entertainment Team just wanted to use our creativity and imagination to provide a quick escape for employees during their workday,” says Wyatt. “It’s been rewarding watching our team members go through. Lots of smiles and a few screams make this a total win in my book.”

The team used materials from the casino and props from famed Georgetown Morgue Creator, Scott Kolling to make the experience scarier than life. They carefully built the sets keeping in mind safety protocols.  “Our goal was to safely create an immersive haunted experience that our team members would enjoy,” Wyatt adds. “It’s been a fun project and I couldn’t be prouder of my Entertainment Team.”

Snoqualmie Casino was recently named one of the top 5 Best Extra Large Workplaces in the Puget Sound Business Journal 2020 Best Places to Work list.
