Shoplifting incident starts police pursuit on Snoqualmie Ridge, July 29th

Wednesday afternoon, July 29, 2020, Snoqualmie Police officers were involved in a pursuit in the Deer Park neighborhood of Snoqualmie Ridge.

The police pursuit stemmed from shoplifting at the Snoqualmie Safeway, which coincidentally is located directly across the street from the Snoqualmie Police station.

According to SPD Chief Perry Phipps, the incident started when 2 -3 subjects stole items from the store and began leaving the area in their vehicle.

Officers arrived and observed the car turning onto Snoqualmie Parkway headed toward I-90.

Phipps said, “Prior to the officer initiating a traffic stop, the vehicle turned left onto Swenson Drive and attempted to elude the officer. Ultimately, the occupants of the vehicle abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot into the residential neighborhood.”

One of the subjects was located trying to cross Snoqualmie Parkway on foot and was taken into police custody. The other two were able to elude the officers.

Chief Phipps commented, “Ultimately, there was no danger to the public and there is no indication or facts that they pose a threat at this point.”

Detectives have identified the two outstanding subjects – who do not live in Snoqualmie. Phipps said they have not been arrest, but charges will be submitted to the King County prosecutor’s office.
