Shaking Things up | New Mount Si High School Dance Team Formed

Some young ladies have been busy this summer… busy bringing a dance team to Mount Si High School.

Team organizers say they are excited to announce the creation of a new dance team that will be heavily involved in WIAA dance/drill competitions.

Through the new team’s formation, organizers say they hope to “give students the opportunity to promote school spirit, encourage school and team involvement, be supportive to other sport programs, encourage high standards and develop or increase skills in dance, responsibility, leadership, and self-discipline.”

Within three weeks of forming a team this summer, the Wildcats dance team attended Elite Performance Dance Camp where they learned routines from top dance/drill choreographers across the state, including high energy Hip hop, pom, lyrical, military, kick, jive, and jazz routines.

Josette Vail was named top dancer in the Intermediate hip hop routine and Emma Eubanks was named top dancer in the beginning Military routine.  All of the dancers are looking forward to sharing the routines this fall at home Mount Si football games.

Organizers say the creation of a new team comes some incredible costs so the team is currently raising funds for uniforms, costumes and competition fees.  A garage sale has been planned for Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 1020 Hemlock Ave SW, North Bend. (Forster Woods)  Donations of gently used items for the garage sale can be arranged by emailing mountsidanceteam@gmail.com.
