Severe thunderstorms possible Thursday afternoon, evening

At 3PM, May 4, 2017, the National Weather Service said a long line of thunderstorms were heading north through the Puget Sound region, expected to impact areas of Seattle to Issaquah to Maple Valley to North Bend.

The NWS has been saying for days there was marginal risk for severe weather in the Cascade Foothills and other areas of the Puget Sound on Thursday afternoon.

Some areas in southwestern Washington have had severe thunderstorm warnings issued this afternoon.  As they rolled through Olympia there was frequent lightning, heavy downpours and small hail reported.

You’re advised to head indoors if you hear thunder. The storms could last into the evening.
