Semi Truck Still Sought in Connection with Hit and Run Collision near North Bend

Washington State Patrol (WSP) closed two of three lanes on eastbound I-90 near North Bend around 2PM, Monday April 6, 2015 to perform a a hit and run collision investigation. As of 5PM the closure was down to just one lane near 436th, but the traffic back up extended about two miles to exit 31.

Witnesses traveling on I-90 said a Toyota Prius flipped and rolled near exit 32 in North Bend, landing in the grassy median. Numerous fire and aid trucks responded and one witness stated that an injured person was attended to on the roadside.

WSP said detectives are are still looking for more witnesses to the hit and run, injury collision that occurred at 1:15PM, April 6th.

Detectives said a white or silver semi-truck towing a container or box trailer struck a black Toyota Prius, causing the Prius to strike a jersey barrier and eventually come to rest in the median. The semi-truck continued eastbound on I-90, possibly last seen by a witness near mile post 40.

The semi-truck is believed to have significant damage to the left front of the vehicle and possibly some damage to the trailer.  The semi-truck may also have green markings on the side of the cab. Investigators also believe that the lug nuts on the left front wheel may be damaged.

A passenger in the Prius suffered a severe hand injury and was transported to the hospital by medics. The driver and a second passenger were not hurt.
