Second Fatal Weekend Accident Reported near Truck Town

In addition to a fatal weekend accident involving high school students on SE Middle Fork Road, a second fatal vehicular accident was reported in the eastern edge of North Bend at Truck Town, this time involving a pedestrian and a semi truck.

King County Sheriffs Office Sergeant Cindi West said the second tragic accident in as many days occurred around 7:30PM, Sunday, February 9, 2014.

West said the pedestrian victim, a 37-year old man from Ohio, was helping a truck back into a parking row, possibly directing it.  A 54-year old semi truck driver (also from Ohio) was waiting for the truck to finish backing up when the pedestrian apparently directed the waiting semi driver to pull through.

When the semi pulled forward and toward the truck stop fueling area, the left rear tires of the semi trailer ran over the pedestrian, who sadly died at the scene. Sgt. West said alcohol and drugs are not suspected in the tragic accident.
