SafeWise Names Snoqualmie One of the Top 10 Safest Washington Cities for 2021

For the fourth year in a row, SafeWise has included the City of Snoqualmie in its top 10 list of safest Washington cities. The city, which was ranked first in 2018, 2019, and 2020, was ranked at #6 this year. To reach its findings, SafeWise compiles FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics and population data.

“We are pleased to once again be recognized as one of the safest communities in Washington,” said Police Chief Perry Phipps, “and want to also recognize the combined efforts of residents and city personnel who keep our city a safe place to live, work, and visit.”

  • The FBI has a long-standing policy that ranking localities based on FBI crime statistics is not valid. See https://ucr.fbi.gov/ucr-statistics-their-proper-use. In this document, the FBI says “UCR data are sometimes used to compile rankings of individual jurisdictions and institutions of higher learning. These incomplete analyses have often created misleading perceptions which adversely affect geographic entities and their residents. For this reason, the FBI has a longstanding policy against ranking participating law enforcement agencies on the basis of crime data alone. Despite repeated warnings against these practices, some data users continue to challenge and misunderstand this position.”
