RV catches fire on I-90 near North Bend, also ignites brush fire

At approximately 12:45PM Sunday, July 19th, crews responded to an RV that had caught fire on westbound I-90 near Truck Town exit 34 – just east of downtown North Bend.

Local eyewitnesses at the Mt. Si Tavern said a family and dogs immediately evacuated the RV and fire crews were on the scene within ten minutes.

According to Eastside Fire & Rescue, the RV fire was extinguished by 1:15PM and crews were working to knock down the resulting grass fire. Drivers were asked find alternate routes while crews responded.

Witnesses reported hearing an explosion and more sirens just before crews arrived. Speculation is that a propane tank on board the RV may have ignited, causing the blaze. Smoke from the blaze was seen all the way from Snoqualmie Ridge.

As of 2:45PM, traffic was backed up more than 10 miles – to near Tinkham Road exit 47.

This story is developing and will be updated as more information becomes available.
