On the 20th anniversary and in honor of the 2,977 civilians, firefighters, and police officers who died in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, there will be a Patriot Day remembrance ceremony this Saturday, September 11, in Snoqualmie
A joint resolution approved Dec. 18, 2001 (Public Law 107-89) has designated Sept. 11 of each year as “Patriot Day,” which also directs the flags to be lowered to half-staff for the entire day on Sept. 11.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony at the Railroad Park flagpole, 7971 Railroad Ave SE, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The ceremony will include the American Legion Post 79 Color Guard; the National Anthem sung by Faith McFadden; Taps by Snoqualmie Valley Veterans Honor Guard bugler; acknowledgments by Snoqualmie Police Captain Nick Almquist and American Legion Vice Commander George Townsend; and closing by American Legion Chaplain Michael Pollinna.
Saturday morning of September 11th the members of the Fall City Fire Department will have a 9/11 ceremony that will start at 6:45 AM. They will have two observances one at 6:59 and another at 7:28 AM when the two towers fell. Please join them in remembering the great loss of life on that day 20 years ago.
The City of North Bend encourages the community to visit the Veterans Memorial at City Hall (920 SE Cedar Falls Way) to thank those that helped and honor those that innocently lost their lives in the September 11, 2001, attacks.

The number of United States troops who have died fighting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan had passed 7,000 at the end of 2019. Approximately 177,000 national military and police from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraqi, and Syria allies have died. Western allies have also borne high human costs.
