Precautionary Police Presence At Cascade View Elementary Yesterday

Picture of CVESThere was a precautionary police presence at Cascade View Elementary School yesterday afternoon, January 31st, due to a “report of concern.”

Snoqualmie Police Captain, Nick Almquist, said Cascade View, located at 34816 SE Ridge Street, was placed under a “soft lock down” while police were dealing with a parent who lived out of the area whose children attend the school. He said the incident was nothing directly related to the school and the lock down was done more as a precaution. The parent did not show up at Cascade View ES.

In a notification email to Cascade View parents, Principal Ray Wilson reiterated that the lock down was only a precautionary measure and “at no time was there a risk to students or staff.”  As a preventative measure afternoon recess was held indoors.

Wilson wrote that school administrators were in direct contact and coordination with Snoqualmie Police during the incident, which was safely resolved through collaboration between both entities.

In his email Principal Wilson explained, “If this had been urgent, we would have immediately implemented our emergency plan and communication.”

The notification email regarding the ongoing incident was sent to parents around 5PM and Captain Almquist said he believes the incident wrapped up after 6PM.
