Power Outage hits downtown North Bend area, possibly caused by mylar Balloon into Power line

Residents in the downtown North Bend area reported hearing a ‘huge’ noise in the area around 11AM, May 10, 2016 before the power went out.

The Puget Sound Energy outage map reports that approximately 975 North Bend customers were without power.

Resident Leesa Renee reported witnessing a mylar balloon that floated into the power lines above the Centurytel building parking lot and exploded “into a fireball” right before the outage happened.

Many other residents in the downtown area also reported hearing what was described as loud explosion that amplified through the area.

PSE estimated power to be restored around 12:30PM and stated the cause is under investigation.
