Pop-up Blood Drive returns to Snoqualmie City Hall August 31st, donors needed

After a successful pop-up blood drive in late June, Bloodworks Northwest is again partnering with the City of Snoqualmie to bring a safe and easy location for blood donations during the coronavirus pandemic.

Summer is the slowest season for blood donations – and COVID-19 has placed an increased strain on the blood supply at local hospitals.

According to Bloodworks Northwest, “Blood centers are reporting inventories falling to their lowest levels since the early stages of the pandemic as hospitals resume elective surgeries.”

In June Snoqualmie citizens filled every time slot of the 4-day, appointment only pop-up blood drive, donating 82 pints of blood to patients in need. Those units were broken into three components – red blood cells, plasma, and platelets – resulting in [up to] 246 patients in local hospitals served.

From August 31st to September 4th, Snoqualmie City Hall Council Chambers, which is temporarily closed due to the pandemic, will open and be used as a blood donation center.

Appointments are required and can be made at bloodworksnw.org.

No drop-in donors, guests or those under 16 will be allowed.

Masks are required and can be provided if needed. Information about giving blood during the COVID-19 pandemic is at bloodworksnw.org/coronavirus.

Wondering if you’ve had coronavirus in the past, but were never tested? All donations will also be tested for COVID-19 antibodies.
