Police investigating reported sexual assault in downtown Snoqualmie

On February 23, 2019, Snoqualmie Police Chief Perry Phipps said SPD detectives are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred on February 18, 2019.

Phipps said after the assault was reported to SPD by a 3rd party, detectives began an investigation that included securing a home in downtown Snoqualmie for the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab to collect possible evidence. SPD is awaiting results from the state crime lab, as well as potential evidence from other agencies involved in the investigation.

Chief Phipps said detectives also canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses and possible surveillance video. He anticipates interviewing the victim early this coming week.

Phipps cautioned that sexual assault investigations are very sensitive, saying he desires to protect the victim. He said there should be more information to report as facts/evidence is gathered in the ongoing investigation.

Chief Phipps is in heading the investigation. Anyone who with information about the case can contact SPD at 425.888.3333.
