Police Blotter | FBI responds to armed grenade found in river; officer vs cow; possible wheelchair assault

Here are a few of the calls the Snoqualmie Police Department responded to in North Bend and Snoqualmie during the past two weeks:

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES | SE MUIR ST, Snoqualmie

On August 19th around 7:30PM, police made contact with a subject who was parked behind the retention pond. He turned out to be fishing. Police advised him to receive permission from the golf course for future fishing excursions.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES | SHELL STATION, North Bend

On August 19th around 10:20PM, an employee reported a loitering person who was making her uncomfortable, as she was working by herself. The man was gone by the time police arrived.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES | SE TANNER RD & SE 136TH ST, North Bend

On August 19th around 11:30PM, a caller reported a suspicious car and a person who appeared to be walking down the trail to the river. Police responded and found a few people down by the river and a bonfire going. The subjects were advised about the burn ban and put the fire out.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES | SANDY COVE PARK, Snoqualmie

On August 20th around 5:15PM, a caller reported finding a corroded grenade on the sandbar in the river. A FBI bomb squad agent arrived on scene, retrieved the grenade, and transported it to the Washington State Fire Academy for disposal. The FBI agent called dispatch to advise that the grenade was still armed at the point of disposal.

CITIZEN ASSIST | 76 STATION, Snoqualmie

On August 22nd around 12:30PM, a man drove away from the gas station with the handle of the gas pump still in the vehicle and then gave false insurance information to the employee. Police were able to get ahold the subject and got him to turn in his correct information.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES | LITTLE SI, North Bend

On August 23rd around 8:40PM, a caller reported a man sleeping in a sleeping bag in the back near the dumpsters. Police located the subject and found out that he had an outstanding warrant for arrest.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES | BARTELLS, North Bend

On August 26th around 8:50PM, a caller reported suspected shoplifters in the store. Police responded and trespassed two subjects from Bartells for a year for attempting to steal electronics.

REGENCY NB | REGENCY, North Bend

On August 28th around 7:10PM, a caller reported a woman in a wheel chair who purposely ran into him with her wheel chair when he took the newspaper. He said he didn’t want to press charges.

ANIMAL PROBLEM | TOLLGATE FARMHOUSE, North Bend

On August 29th around 6:35PM, a caller reported a cow on the trail on the north side of Tollgate Park. The responding officer painted a clear picture of the event in their log: “Snoqualmie standoff. Officer and citizens versus cow. Cow won the first round, escaping to the open field with luscious grass to eat. Second round went to the awesome citizens who guided the cow to a low fence to jump back over. No person or animal hurt. Everyone won this time.”

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES | SUNSET MOTEL, North Bend

On August 30th around 12:30AM, a child staying in one of the rooms came to the motel office after waking up and finding their parents gone. Police were contacted. It turned out the parents had just gone down the street to have a drink and the child woke up and got scared. The parents came back as the officer was talking to the nine year old child.

ASSAULT IN-PROGRESS | SHELL STATION, North Bend

On August 31st around 10:05PM, two subjects started fighting. They were removed from the location and detained by the police. Both subjects were drunk— .085 and .162 blood alcohol levels. One of the suspects waived his rights and decided to write a statement about what happened.
