One Vehicle Accident Near Casino Sends Woman to Harborview; Residents Concerned about ‘Mobile Home Graveyard’

One Car Accident Sends Woman to Harborview

Eastside Fire & Rescue and the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) responded to a one-vehicle accident near the Snoqualmie Casino on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 around 4PM, that closed lanes of North Bend Way for a short time.

KCSO Sergeant Stan Seo said the accident involved a Hummer SUV. Numerous witnesses stated the vehicle was in the ditch and one person stated the Hummer was severely damaged, appearing like it may have rolled.

Sgt. Seo said the female driver, the only occupant, was transported to Harborview Medical Center. The accident is currently under investigation, but investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol was a factor.  The accident investigation continued past 7PM Tuesday night.

Residents Concerned about ‘Mobile Home Graveyard’

Multiple residents are concerned about the number of mobile homes being stored on property across from Cascade Covenant Church, which is located along 436th Ave SE in North Bend.

One resident said the number of used mobile homes at the location “seems to multiply during the night.”  Another resident describe it as a “mobile home graveyard.”

North Bend Building Official David Spencer stated via email that the site is currently under Code Enforcement; that the used manufactured homes on the site are not allowed to be stored within the zoning district of the particular property per North Bend Municipal Code (NBMC).

Spencer explained that the NBMC only allows for new manufactured home to be installed within the city limits. “New”  means the home “has not been previously titled to a retail purchaser and and is not a ‘used mobile home’ as defined in RCW 82.45.032(2).”

The city is requiring the used mobile and/or manufactured homes currently stored on the property to be removed.  Spencer did not say when the removal might take place.
