Now this is something New, Hikers surprised by ‘Coffee Pop Up’ high atop Rattlesnake Ledge

Well now here’s something you don’t hear about everyday – or usually find on Snoqualmie Valley trails.

If you’d gotten up early to hike Rattlesnake Ledge before the summertime crowds descended, how would you have felt if at the top you discovered someone fresh brewing coffee…. just because they could and with no strings attached?  Except maybe for a chance to tell folks how they grow coffee and connect with the community.

Well, that’s what happened at the top, Saturday, July 16, 2016, in an event called Coffee Pop Up,  Zoka Coffee Roasting Company surprised local hikers with a FREE hot cup of joe – starting bright and early at 6AM.

According to Snoqualmie resident, Debbie Mulligan, the coffee was a great surprise on her morning hike. Apparently, a Zoka team member even carried a generator atop Rattlesnake so the coffee beans could be freshly ground on the spot for pour-over cups.

Zoka Coffee started in Seattle’s Wallingford District in 1996 by UW alumni Jeff Babcock. According to their Facebook, page they are an award-winning, family direct trade coffee roaster.

The used to have a coffee-house in Snoqualmie (where SnoValley Coffee is located)  – and still have other locations besides Wallingford, including Greenlake, Kirkland and South Lake Union.

What a nice weekend surprise from Zoka Coffee!
