North Bend Theatre, North Bend Film Fest and Volition Brewing Team Up for New Virtual Movie Night

Three North Bend businesses have launched a new collaboration, one aimed at bringing first run movies to the Snoqualmie Valley

The new monthly screening series aims to “creatively unite and generate revenue for the three local businesses during the coronavirus pandemic.”

On May 13th, North Bend Theatre, North Bend Film Fest, and Volition Brewing announced that they’re collaborating on a monthly “Film Fest Fridays” virtual screening series beginning May 22nd. The series will feature contemporary independent films from filmmakers fresh off the film festival circuit.

Miss seeing new movies in local theaters? Virtual movie screenings allow movie-lovers to rent new movies directly through the North Bend Theater website and watch. It’s that simple.

To complement each virtual premiere, North Bend Theatre will offer a special Film Fest Fridays concession package in addition to their regular pickup offerings. Volition Brewing will also be offering a 15% off discount code for those confirm their film rental purchase – to use at checkout for their May 22nd crowler pickup window.

“As a small town historic theatre, we have a 79-year tradition of serving and entertaining our community. We could not be more pleased to continue that tradition with Film Fest Fridays in partnership with the North Bend Film Fest and Volition Brewing. Quality independent films such as these allow us to experience our world one engaging story at a time,” said North Bend Theatre owner Beth Burrows

Kicking off Friday, May 22nd, the series will premiere the Sundance award-winning documentary thriller THE PAINTER AND THE THIEF

From award-winning director Benjamin Ree and produced by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville, the feature film focuses on a Czech artist who’s desperate for answers about the theft of two paintings. After seeking out the criminal who stole her work, she asks him to sit for a portrait, spurring an improbable relationship and an inextricable bond that will forever link these lonely souls.

Similar to the theatre’s current virtual screening offerings, customers will be able to buy multi-day access from the theatre’s website. After purchasing online, viewers can watch on their laptop, tablet, smartphone or connect those devices to their tv via Apple TV Mirroring, Chromecast, HDMI Cable, or preferred streaming device.

“Here at NBFF, we work hard to be a forward-thinking creative organization and I think that the global shift in how media reaches audiences is the perfect opportunity for us to evolve even further,” explained NBFF Community Engagement Producer Kristin Tetuán.

She added, “Right now we want to focus on bringing together our local community and are excited to have found an innovative way to benefit a few of the beloved local businesses in town.”

In April, the North Bend Film Fest, whose programming focuses on boundary-pushing contemporary films and experiences, announced that they’re moving their in-person film festival dates to October 1-4, 2020 in hopes of connecting audiences with new films at their flagship venue, the North Bend Theatre.

Early-Bird passes are currently available for the 2020 edition and submissions are open for local filmmakers with a subsidized “PNW” category to support local artists.
