North Bend Receives Wellcity Distinction, Provides More Opportunities to Give Back

For 13 years running, the City of North Bend is proud to announce that it has received the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) 2023 WellCity distinction, a recognition earned through continual efforts to commit to city employees’ health.

Mayor McFarland commented, “It is very gratifying to see so many take good care of themselves and their workmates. Congratulations to all City staff. Keep it up!”

WellCities are recognized as healthy workplaces with:

  • Quality, sustainable benefits, and a workplace that supports employee wellbeing.
  • Reduced costs with decreased sick days, disability, health care claim costs, and workers’ comp claims.
  • A healthy workplace culture leads to happy, healthy, and productive employees that are fully engaged in serving their communities.

As a WellCity, North Bend staff have the opportunity to participate in a series of staff events that benefit the community as well. Activities such as tree planting, volunteering at the local food bank, and picking up litter are a few examples of WellCity events that staff look forward to every year.

Stay tuned for information on the next event: North Bend Beautification Days will incorporate litter collection throughout town, alongside collaborating community organizations and residents in honor of Earth Day, April 21st through 22nd.
