North Bend Burglary Leads to Snoqualmie Check Forgery and Freeway Police Pursuit

Two suspects were arrested yesterday after burglarizing a North Bend area home, attempting to cash a stolen check at the Snoqualmie IGA and then leading police on a pursuit along I-90.  The car pursuit ended in arrest on I-405 yesterday afternoon – luckily before the afternoon commute started.

Shortly after 1:00 PM in the 12800 block of 412th Ave SE in North Bend, two victims in their 80’s called 911 and reported their home was burglarized. While waiting for police to arrive, they called their bank and reported their checkbook had been stolen.

A North Bend King County Sheriff’s deputy contacted the victims where he learned a handgun and some other items were also stolen. At 1:30 PM, while the sergeant was still with the victims, their bank called, reporting someone was trying to cash one of the stolen checks at the Snoqualmie IGA Store.

The Snoqualmie  police were asked to respond to the store along with King County deputies. A female was taken into custody without incident, in possession of the stolen checkbook.

Deputies learned the woman’s male accomplice was in a vehicle somewhere near the store. The vehicle and male suspect were spotted by another deputy who tried to stop the car, but the suspect refused to stop and led police on a high-speed freeway pursuit.

During the pursuit, which reached speeds of 90MPH, Washington State Patrol deployed spike strips which the suspect was able to avoid. After exiting I-90 onto North I-405, the suspect pulled over  and gave up.

The 33-year-old man and 37-year-old woman from Renton were booked into the King County Jail for investigation of Theft of a Firearm, Burglary 1 Theft 2 and Forgery. The man was also booked for Investigation of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Eluding.
