Newly appointed North Bend Council Member, Chris Garcia was officially sworn in during a special meeting on July 10th to fill council position #6. This position was vacated by Jeanne Pettersen, who announced her resignation in early June.
According to a news release, council members interviewed three qualified candidates during open session and then recessed to evaluate them. After reconvening, Mayor Pro Tem, Alan Gothelf, made a motion to appoint Garcia to the vacated position. The motion passed unanimously.
Garcia has lived in North Bend for more than 20 years. His experience includes serving on the Council and Planning Commission. He has also served on the Snoqualmie Valley Watershed Forum. His other community involvement includes serving on the Festival at Mt. Si Committee, serving as the former president and founder of Snoqualmie Valley Wrestling Club and he is a former board member of the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce. Garcia is a co-owner of a small business franchise, Frankie’s Pizza.
Garcia took his seat at the Council table for the remainder of the meeting after being sworn in by Mayor Ken Hearing.
“We look forward to working with Chris and welcome him to his new Council position,” Mayor Hearing said. “He has served as a Council Member in the past and this, combined with his 20 years residency and many years of business ownership, gives him a unique perspective that will be a great asset to the community.”
