News Reports: North Bend Mayor Spends Night in Jail

According to a 97.3 radio report and Komo News this morning, March 28, 2013,  North Bend Mayor Ken Hearing was held in King County Jail Tuesday night, March 26th, after calling police to report a domestic disturbance-type situation.

Deputies arrived and upon speaking with the couple took Hearing into custody in connection with an earlier altercation.  According to Komo News, “He is suspected of fourth-degree assault, a misdemeanor” and was released Wednesday, March 27, 2013.

You can read a the full story at Komo News. Sgt. Cindi West, King County Sheriff’s spokesperson, said that Mr. Hearing did not call 911 as previously reported in the media.  She said he called police, but not 911.

Mayor Hearing released a statement this afternoon:

“I want to thank the many citizens who have contacted me in support.  I believe in the judicial process and I would ask that people allow this process to unfold.  I have been grateful to serve the City of North Bend since 2004 and care deeply about our city.  I want to assure the citizens that this matter will have no impact on City business.  I would ask that you respect my family’s privacy during this difficult time. “
