New BIG Snoqualmie Valley Parks Opening Soon, Feature Athletic Complex and Extensive Tollgate Farm Trail System

Two new parks will be opening in the upper Snoqualmie Valley within the next three months, both large and with plenty of space and amenities to offer area residents.

Jeanne Hansen Community Park – City of Snoqualmie

Crews are busy putting the finishes touches, including landscaping, at Snoqualmie’s newest “big park” slated to open to residents in August.  The 16-acre park will be the third primary athletic complex in Snoqualmie.

Jeanne Hansen Community Park is located in the Eagle Pointe neighborhood of Snoqualmie Ridge, near Jacobia Street and Snoqualmie Parkway. It is named for the former mayor who was in office when Snoqualmie Ridge was in its early development stage.

This will be the first Snoqualmie park to feature low-maintenance synthetic turf fields.  The “grass” for the fields was rolled out and installed in early June.

In addition, the large community park has a tennis court; a walking track; soft-surface nature trails; two playgrounds; a picnic shelter with barbecues; a concession stand; restrooms; and parking – as well as great views.

A formal grand opening celebration for Jeanne Hansen Park is slated for September 2014.

Tollgate Farm Park – Si View Metropolitan Parks District

Meanwhile in North Bend, Si View Parks District is upgrading and adding improvements to Tollgate Farm Park, located between North Bend Way and SR 202 – on the northwest edge of the city.

The new park  is scheduled to open fall 2014 and was funded by a 2010 voter-approved parks bond and a percentage of park impact fees from the City of North Bend.

When the Tollgate Farm Park improvements are finished there will be added parking, a kids playground area, restrooms, picnic area and a large soft surface trail around the property’s large natural areas, which highlight views of Mt. Si and adjacent open pasture and meadow land.

Work to complete the final stages of  park construction will resume after July 1st.  Si View Parks District Executive Director, Travis Stombaugh, is hopeful for substantial park completion in September, with final completion by October.

  • With all the creative and cool options available for play structures, who signed off on another boring molded plastic piece of junk for Tollgate? Maybe next time let the kids pick it out.
