Mount Si soccer, golf, track & field represent at State this week

The Mount Si boys soccer team won another dramatic playoff game with yet another incredible winning goal. Reed Paradissis gets credit this time with a head’s up play that propelled the team into the state semis.

On a kickoff in the 51st minute, he noticed the Issaquah goalkeeper was well off his line. The kick off was tapped back to Paradissis who launched an estimated 55′ shot that capitalized on the keeper’s location near the 18 yard box. The keeper reacted too late the Cats went up 3-1. Mount Si went on to hold off Issaquah 3-2 and secure a spot in the WIAA State 4A semifinals on May 24th at 6PM against Ferris High School at Sparks Stadium in downtown Puyallup. [Note: if heading to the game, Sparks Deli, across from the stadium, is a great place for pregame meal]

Paradissis scored two goals – his second came on a penalty kick and Sullivan Smith scored just before the end of the first half.

Mount Si Track and Field qualified multiple athletes for the State championships which start later this week in Tacoma. Senior Joe Waskom won Districts in the 1600m and 3200m races. Abby Triou won the discuss and also qualified in shot put. Blake Woodford finished second in the 400m race – and in dramatic fashion the Boys 4x400m relay team finished in third to qualify for state after finishing 6th just to qualify for districts. Joining the state-bound team are also Jenae Usselma in the javelin, Roy Bang in shot put and jumpers jumpers Karlie Stewart and Tatum Dalgleish.

Both Mount Si boys and girls golf teams also headed off to state over the weekend. Both team compete on May 21-22 in Spokane area courses.
