Mount Si Invitational Track Meet Returns To Snoqualmie After A Twenty Year Absence, Saturday April 21st

It’s been a long time since Mount Si hosted an invitational track meet, specifically since 1990.  That’s all about to change this Saturday, April 21st.  Some of the best local track and field high school athletes are scheduled to participate in the historic meet.

Invitational track meets follow a special format where participating teams only send their best runners, throwers and jumpers to compete in their top events.  Participating teams include 2A: Clover park, Sequim; 3A: Hazen, Holy Names Academy, Mount Si, O’Dea; 4A: Graham-Kapowsin, Marysville-Pilchuck, Snohomish.

Spectators should see some of the best high school-level track and field competition of the season – records could even fall.  Although, I have it on good authority that MSHS  Alumi and 300 meter record holder, Bill Robey’s 1985 time of 40.75 will be tough to break.   Bill will also be on hand helping at the invitational.  His son is  a MSHS Track Team member.

Some stand out top athletes to watch this Saturday include Tatum Taylor from O’Dea – 100 and 200 meter sprints, Mount Si’s Bradley Stevens – javelin, Kevin Yates of Snohomish – long jump, Cecilia Jackson from Holy Names – 100 meter hurdles and Summer Cull of Marysville-Pilchuck – pole vault.

Event organizers are still awaiting confirmation of Tatum Taylor’s participation.  Currently, he is one of the fastest 60 meter sprint runners in the nation, as well as posting a top 100 meter time. He hasn’t been running in every meet this year and heat sheets haven’t been posted as of this publish time.  Look for more info to follow.

The Mount Si Track and Field Invitational starts at 11AM, Saturday April 21st.  Admission is $5.  Kids 12 and under enter for $4.  For the Invitational Program click here.
