Mount Si Football Knocked out of Playoffs by O’Dea, Ends Strong Season with 9-2 Record

It won’t be a repeat of the 2012 season with a return trip to the Tacoma Dome for the  High School State Championships, but it was a successful, winning 2013 season for Coach Charlie Kinnune’s Wildcat Football program.

Mount Si faced off again O’Dea High School in the second round of the state playoffs at Seattle’s Memorial Stadium last night, November 15th. From the start, it was a game dominated by O’Dea’s star junior running back, Myles Gaskin, who carried the ball just 14 times for 231 yards – and five touchdowns.

According to the Seattle Times High School Sports Blog, the weather conditions hampered Mount Si quarterback, Nick Mitchell’s usually successful passing game, with the wind and rain whipping for most of the game. Mitchell is committed to play at Oregon State University next year.

It was 28-0 at halftime and in the end, Mount Si fell 49-7, ending their 2013 season at 9-2.  The Wildcats only losses this year came at the hands of  #1 ranked Bellevue High School and #2 ranked O’Dea High School.

Congratulations on a great season Mount Si Football!
