Mount Si boys soccer trounces Mariner, plays for District Championship May 9th

I am not sure anyone expected the one-sided goal explosion that happened Tuesday night at Wildcat Stadium in the 4A boys soccer Wes-King District playoffs, but if you’re a Mount Si fan, you most likely enjoyed the evening.

In a complete team effort, Mount Si trounced Mariner High School – the #2 WesCo seed – by a score of 8-1. Yes, you read that right.

In a balanced Mount Si attack, the eight goals were scored by eight different players according to the MSHS Soccer Facebook page. Four goals came in each half with assists from six different players. The entire team was crowned ‘Player of the Match.’

Mount Si now hosts Jackson High School (#1 WesCo seed) for the Wes-King District title on Thursday, May 9th at 7PM. Jackson is also coming off a big semi-final win, beating Eastlake 4-0, so it has all the makings of a great championship match.

Tuesday’s win also secured the team a spot in the 4A State Tournament next week where Mount Si will again be the home team. If they win the district title it could also set up home field advantage up through the state semis according to Rhett Workman of SnoValley Sports Journal.
