Mount Si Boys Basketball starts season with #1 state ranking; faces #2 Union in home opener this weekend

After advancing to the 4A State Championship game this past March, the Mount Si Boys Basketball team is starting the 2019-20 season with some big expectations – highlighted by the Seattle Times #1 state ranking.

The Times called Mount Si the “unquestioned favorite behind St. Mary’s commit Jabe Mullins, sharpshooting forward Tyler Patterson and point guard Bennett O’Connor.”

On Saturday, December 14th at 6PM the #1 ranked Wildcats will face off against #2 ranked Union High School in their home opener in the school’s brand new gymnasium.

It should be a good matchup against a Union team that’s made it to the state playoffs in the Tacoma Dome for the past five seasons.

This is the 4th season as the Mount Si head coach for Jason Griffith. The team is led by seniors Jabe Mullins – who will play for St. Mary’s College next season and Tyler Patterson, who is committed to Montana State next year.

The team is hoping the community will pack the new gymnasium for the big matchup being billed as a Showdown in the Valley. The home opener is also a white out – so find all those white clothes and be ready to cheer. The MSHS football team will also be honored at halftime for advancing to the state semifinals last month.

Mount Si started league play on Tuesday, December 10th with a big victory over Redmond High School, 75-50.

Good Luck and Go Cats!
