Mount Si basketball ends historic season 2nd in state, falls to Gonzaga Prep in championship game

It was a historic season for the Mount Si boys basketball team, only losing three times in a long season and making it to the WIAA 4A State Championship game on March 2, 2019 at the Tacoma Dome.

The defending state champs, Gonzaga Prep, proved to be too much for Mount Si Saturday night, coming out on top 69-43. After a tight first half, Gonazaga Prep stretched the lead to 51-29 by the end of the 3rd quarter and never looked back. Prep star Anton Watson scored 33 points in the victory.

Jabe Mullins and Bennett O’Connor each scored 13 points and Tyler Patterson contributed 12 points in the championship game. This was the first time Mount Si had advanced to the title game since 1977, when it was a 2A school.

Congratulations on an amazing season Mount Si!
