On Wednesday, May 17, 2017, Snoqualmie resident, Melissa Johnson, announced her candidacy for Snoqualmie Valley School Board Director District #1. The seat is currently held by Tavish MacLean who announced in April that he would seek a second term.
Via press release Ms. Johnson stated:
“Although we have made great strides with our schools over the last few years, we deserve a district that consistently inspires our students to reach higher goals. We have a great opportunity to increase student success by reinforcing a culture of encouragement, supporting our valued educators and working collaboratively with parents, students and schools – all while remaining fiscally responsible.”
Johnson is a 15-year resident of Snoqualmie and married with two sons. She holds a MBA and a Bachelor of Science, working for Weyerhaeuser for over 22 years in diverse roles ranging from scientist to leading cross-functional teams. She is now responsible for pricing, business development and business analysis.
