Mayhew tapped to fill vacant Snoqualmie City Council seat

The Snoqualmie City Council voted unanimously to appoint James Mayhew for Council Position 4 at the City Council meeting on Monday. October 9th.  The council had interviewed the four remaining candidates Monday evening and then adjourned to an executive session for discussions.

Immediately following the vote, City Clerk Jodi Warren administered the oath of office to Mayhew. He then promptly took his seat went to work as the regular council meeting commenced.

Council Member Mayhew has lived in Snoqualmie since 2009. He attended the University of Washington, earning a B.A in Business Administration; has a background in finance and accounting with large multi-national accounting firms; and, locally, is a former treasurer of the Wildcat Junior Football and Cheerleading Association.

On Mayhew’s city council application  he stated his top three priorities as fiscal sustainability; controlled growth that sustains the type of community [Snoqualmie’s] citizens desire; and communication with citizens about the vision, implications, and basis for decisions that impact them and the city.

Via email Mayhew commented, “I am honored to be selected from such a talented and dedicated pool of candidates.  I look forward to supporting and continuing the impressive work the Council has been doing in strengthening our city’s finances and preserving our quality of life.

The term of this position will expire after the results of the November 2019 general election are certified. Mayhew filled the seat vacated by Brad Toft on August 31, 2017.
