Man rescued following hours in car after going off SR 18 near Tiger Mt summit

Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson said it appears a 73-year old man will be okay after spending hours in his vehicle when it went off eastbound SR 18 just west of the Tiger Mt. summit Saturday morning, April 21, 2018.

Eastside Fire & Rescue crews rescued the man around 5PM.

Trooper Rick Johnson said via social media that the man may have been trapped for possibly 12 hours, adding he may have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and go down an embankment.

A bicyclist reportedly may have been the one who spotted the vehicle and alerted emergency crews.

The man was taken to Overlake Medical Center and traffic was cleared on eastbound SR 18 by 6PM.
