Man Flees Police, Swims across Snoqualmie River in Attempt to avoid Arrest

According to the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) and Eastside Firefighters Twitter feeds, deputies, K-9 units and firefighters responded to the Snoqualmie River on Sunday, May 8, 2016 around 4PM after a 24-year old man jumped into the river in an attempt to avoid being arrested.

KCSO said the man ran from deputies, jumped into and swam across the Snoqualmie River near Meadowbrook and Millpond Road around 4PM to evade going to jail on domestic violence warrants.

The KCSO Marine Rescue Unit, along with local firefighters, responded to the scene. Swift water rescue personnel assisted in searching the river for the man.

The subject was located by officers and taken into custody around 5PM Sunday. According to the KCSO, the man was going to jail “wet, cold and tired from his little jog and swim.”
